About the Innkeeper
While I am now your host for your stay at Abbington Green Bed & Breakfast Inn, my life before innkeeping was lived primarily
in the New York City area. Born in New York City, I grew up in a suburban community on Long Island about 25 miles east of NYC.
After my freshman year at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina I returned to New York University to major in History of
Art. I continued to live in Manhattan's Greenwich Village for twelve years and on Roosevelt Island for two years. During this
time I started a family of two daughters, Julie and Gabrielle and began a serious Corporate career.
I commuted over 3 1/2 hours per day from Northern New Jersey into Manhattan for 15 years. I was Vice
President of Consumer Marketing and Product Development for one of the country's largest financial institutions, working on
PC Home Banking, Debit Cards and launching the Bank's first outbound telemarketing center.
Abbington is one of the places in the United Kingdom where my father's family had lived, generations ago. One of my daughters
went to college there, my brother and his wife have taught at Oxford and I have been to England seven times, so far. A bit of
me belongs there, too. So it's easy to see where our English theme here at the Inn came from.
As an Innkeeper, I have designed each suite and guest room and have also custom- made the draperies and many of the bed linens.
I have also discovered and then developed a great love of garden design since coming to Asheville. It has been my pleasure to
create the award-winning English style gardens that surround the Inn.
I enjoy meeting people, swapping stories, and serving breakfast to a few or to a crowd. Innkeepers live in the middle of their
job, so it's pretty important that you like what you do. As one of the Longest Surviving Innkeepers within 30 miles of
Asheville, now in my 15th year, you can probably tell that it suits me! Since I also live at the Inn, I also have a very deep
appreciation for the less-than-two-minute-commute!
