Abbington Green Bed & Breakfast Inn, in Asheville, North Carolina is a large historic, Colonial Revival-style home and carriage house. Built in the early 20th century and located in the Montford Historic District, the house was designed by British architect Richard Sharp Smith, on-site supervising architect for Biltmore Estate, 1890-1895. A full set of floor plans for this house, each page signed by Richard Sharp Smith, is located at the Asheville Historic Archives.
For renovating and converting the house into an eight unit Bed and Breakfast, the owner won the prestigious “Griffin Award” for excellence in Historic Preservation. The inn has an English theme and is tastefully furnished and decorated with reminders of the British Isles. The property includes extensive award-winning English gardens: “Best Gardens” in Buncombe County.
