Checking in from Asheville

I hope that our readers and guests are staying healthy and are adjusting to life during the current COVID19 pandemic.  As you can imagine, this is a very unsettling time for all small businesses, including Abbington Green, as well as for our great staff and our loyal customers.

What Abbington Green has accomplished in the past 6 years still inspires me.  I strongly feel our guests deserve only the best.  I’ve been overwhelmed and appreciative of all the calls and emails I have been receiving from our guests, checking in on us
and showing their support.  With you, our loyal guests beside us…showing your support, you are helping us get through these hard times.  I know for many of you Abbington Green is that place for you to come, relax, get away from your busy lives, celebrate a special occasion or explore all the great things Asheville has to offer.  Our repeat business at the Inn trends over 50% of our total occupancy and we are and will continue to be your “Home Away from Home” when this is all over.

As we look forward to the next chapter, I wanted to take the time to update you on how Abbington Green will be ready for you with new systems in place to ensure for your and our staff’s safety taking into account the rolling CDC guidelines.

We have always been focused on the cleanliness aspects at the Inn.  Our consistent 100% Health Inspections are evidence of that, and your comments about the cleanliness  in your TripAdvisor reviews show that you notice and appreciate this.  This is what we have always done, but we have plans to add additional sanitizing practices throughout the day in all common areas as the health department has directed.

The things we will be doing are being put into place to enhance safety. We want you always to feel you are able to come home to somewhere you can trust and have peace of mind.

As we await for more CDC, Buncombe county and city government guidelines as to when we can open for business, I will share a few of our thoughts:

  • Kitchen staff wearing masks and gloves as recommended:  We have two associates that are ServeSafe trained, and will continue our higher cleanliness standards.
  • Separate breakfast dining areas for guests.
  • Not handling your luggage (this one is super strange for us!).
  • Social Hour brought to your room for you to enjoy.
  • Individually wrapped treats and baked goods available 24 hours a day.
  • Complete room sanitizing and cleaning between guests with a deep cleaning

For our frequent guests, we know this will be slightly different from the way you are used to enjoying your time with us and socializing with the other guests at the Inn.  It is our goal for us to continue to provide you with the highest level of guest
service…but in a safe environment for everyone.

We look forward to seeing you when we reopen,  And we will reopen. I’m always honest with our guests.  We need you to come back to not only support our business….but also to help us support our staff and the local business partners that supply the products that we use to prepare our breakfasts and Social Hour.  Asheville will need your support.  We are all in this together!

We appreciate you and hope to see you soon when the time is right for us to open. Help us Keep Asheville Strong!

All the best,

Nick

I stayed there over 20 years ago, I did a cartoon of a pug they called “Winston Churchill”
just curious if that picture still graces the halls there. A wonderful experience we were waited on hand and foot, great food. exceptional rooms.

Hello Michael! I am certain that the cartoon art you did went with the original owner, Valerie. Too bad, we would have loved to see it! Nick and Steve purchased the Inn 6 years ago, and we are holding up Valerie’s amazing level of service every day. We hope you’ll come back to stay with us! All the best to you!
